This Is Your Stage Trailer

This is Your Stage was an attempt at multiplayer virtual chat room that would be used by players to spend time playing instruments, singing and other activities in a virtual social environment. It was meant as a love letter to a time much simpler, simulating a local playing experience.

The game was made using unreal engine and uses steam as its online subsystem. The game has been designed to use listen servers to host games.

On the stage is where you will find the guitar which can be played individually or with people. Simply approach the guitar and you will be able to strum it. You will also see a button that asks if you would like to play the guitar. If you do, you will be put into a mini game that makes you hit notes using a combination of keys that produce different chord of a guitar. The performance is a live event. Everyone on the server will be able to hear you if they are close enough to the speakers. But the speakers are successfully attenuated hence if you go to the corners, there are still a pocket of silence. These are meant to be conversation pockets, similar to real life clubs and events. You are scored on your performance. For each note you hit, you are rewarded one point. I wanted to make it more complicated but realised it was very punishing and the game is meant to be more relaxed. Once the performance is over, you are added to a leader board of that lobby which you can access using the tab button.
